Narrative in art


Narrative in art. T.3


Students will examine narrative in art looking at Egyptian art, African art and the use of masks and sculpture. We will study the work of artists such as Abeccasis, Modigliani, Liechtenstein, Brugel, Cy Twombly and the work of medieval and renaissance artists who conveyed meaning and knowledge through their art.We will look at Egyptian patterns and the use of hieroglyphs.Students will learn how Australian Aboriginal Artists used form and image to recount histories.While looking at Medieval art we will make a predella and look at how these are similar to modern day Comics.Students will work towards creating a calm and cooperative classroom atmosphere.

Term 2 Expressionism.


Expressionism T.2



Students will learn about The Blue Rider group and “The Bridge”. We will concentrate on learning Painting techniques such as Using a glaze and using undercoats to create effect. We will look at colour used to convey feeling and expressing oneself through its use. Artists we will examine are Max Beckman, Franz Marc, Gabriele Munter, Wassily Kandinskey, August Macke. Students will learn how to best plan their work using the work book.
