Term 2 Expressionism.

Criterion C Reflection and Evaluation

You will study the art movement Expressionism and use painting techniques learned to make an expressionist painting showing a rain forest animal in the style of Franz Marc.

You must

Reflecting upon evaluating, assessing and appraising work to support and promote creative development.

You reflect on your work and take feedback and advice into account. You provide an evaluation of your development and your work. The evaluation includes identification of where further improvement can be made. You have used feedback to improve the quality of your artwork.

7 Great

You give a thoughtful response to feedback and advice. The development of good practice is considered and evaluated. The evaluation of the quality of the work produced is accurate and includes details of how further improvements could be made. Feedback and reflection have been evident in the completion of your artwork.

Here is the Rubric which will be used to grade your East Asia books.

It is very simple to use. If you look in your East Asia book and select an art work you can even try to give your self a grade. Go on give it a go. Be honest with your self!

The Great Year 7 East Asia project

Staring of the year in grade 7 we have Ms Ravenhalls' fantastic East Asia project.

As part of the project in art we will be looking at art from japan, Korea, and China. We will be learning news skills and looking at the use of new tools.

The first artist we will look at is Hokusai, here is a reproduction of one of his art works in a most unusual place!!

The characters must be human, or humanoid, and drawn correctly. So no Winx or donald duck comics please.

Look for art works by the following artists to see how they have used similar techniques.

Homework.

Choose an art work by one of these artists and print it out for your sketch book. Find out what story the art work is telling.

Next term in grade 7 students will be looking at Narrative in art.

In other words how art is used to tell stories or communicate information. We will look at a variety of artists including Raphael Abecassis a well known Jewish artist who uses his art to recount tales from the bible.

Narrative in art

Narrative in art. T.3

Students will examine narrative in art looking at Egyptian art, African art and the use of masks and sculpture. We will study the work of artists such as Abeccasis, Modigliani, Liechtenstein, Brugel, Cy Twombly and the work of medieval and renaissance artists who conveyed meaning and knowledge through their art.We will look at Egyptian patterns and the use of hieroglyphs.Students will learn how Australian Aboriginal Artists used form and image to recount histories.While looking at Medieval art we will make a predella and look at how these are similar to modern day Comics.Students will work towards creating a calm and cooperative classroom atmosphere.

Expressionism T.2

Students will learn about The Blue Rider group and “The Bridge”. We will concentrate on learning Painting techniques such as Using a glaze and using undercoats to create effect. We will look at colour used to convey feeling and expressing oneself through its use. Artists we will examine are Max Beckman, Franz Marc, Gabriele Munter, Wassily Kandinskey, August Macke. Students will learn how to best plan their work using the work book.

Oriental art.T.1
Students will study Chinese ,Japanese, Korean and Tibetan art. We will look at Lettering and calligraphy. We will learn Watercolour use, Landscape painting techniques and tonal perspective. We will look at how artists used Printing techniques. Students will examine the concept of “Qi” in art. We will Use oriental brushes and brush techniques. Students will look at Mask making. Elements of classroom technique we will examine are the use of the workbook as a tool for learning, how to work safely and caring for materials. Artistic elements we will study are use of line, tone, shape, form and balance .
